Product descriptions

Echeveria elegans, often known as the Mexican snowball, God’s Throne, Mexican gem, or white Mexican rose, is a flowering plant from the Crassulaceae family that is native to semi-desert settings in Mexico.

Echeveria elegans is a succulent evergreen perennial that grows to be 5-10 cm (2-4 in) tall and 50 cm (20 in) broad. It has tight rosettes of pale green-blue fleshy leaves and 25 cm (10 in) long slender pink stalks with yellow tips in the winter and spring.

Care tips:

Light: Full sun to bright indirect light (at least 6 hours of sunlight daily). If indoors, place near a south-facing window or use a grow light. Watch for stretching (etiolation)—if it gets leggy, it needs more light!

  • Water: Soak & dry method: Water only when soil is 100% dry (stick your finger in). Deep water, then let excess drain out—NO wet feet (root rot kills!). Winter = less water (dormant phase).
  • Soil & Pot: Fast-draining mix (cactus/succulent soil + perlite/pumice). Terracotta pot with drainage holes = best choice.
  • Temperature: Ideal: 65°F–80°F (18°C–27°C). Can handle down to 50°F (10°C) but NO frost—bring indoors in winter!
  • Fertiliser: Light feeding in spring/summer (use diluted succulent fertiliser). Skip in winter.
  • Pests: Watch for mealybugs & aphids—spray with 70% isopropyl alcohol if needed.
